Child and Adolescent Clinical Services

Often, when a child or adolescent is struggling or experiencing significant difficulties, the entire family is affected and struggles, too.  Therefore, treating children and adolescents almost always involves including other family members in the treatment process.

At times, school interventions are also necessary and Dr. Alvarez will help the family navigate the educational system in order to maximize the treatment approach.  She is familiar with the diagnostic process and recommended interventions for Learning Disabilities, Language Processing Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Mental Retardation.

With respect to children and adolescents, Dr. Alvarez evaluates, generates a diagnosis, and treats the following:

  • ADHD
  • Depression
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Anxiety Related Disorders
  • Asperger’s Disorder
  • Bipolar Disorder

Sometimes, children and adolescents have additional psychological and emotional needs due to very unfortunate life circumstances.  Intervention is critical for children who have been:

  • Traumatized
  • Abused
  • Neglected

As well as children and adolescents who are:

  • Currently in CPS care
  • Involved in an adoption process
  • Recently adopted
